OBB Radio Hour

This special feature was developed for a concert at a local Retirement Community to entertain Senior residents who grew up with radio as the only in-home source of Big Band entertainment.

Old Time Radio ArtThe Olney Big Band Radio Hour provides a chance for listeners to take a stroll down memory lane. It harkens to a time when families gathered around the radio and bonded as they listened to how The Shadow knew, as Sergeant Preston of the Royal Canadian Mounties closed a case, and as Little Orphan Annie proved that the sun would really come out another day.

The Radio Hour employs a format made famous by the great music and variety shows of the Golden Age of Radio. Whether emulating The Make Believe Ballroom, Benny Goodman’s Swing Time, Glenn Miller’s Chesterfield Hour, Texaco’s Cavalcade of Stars, and in particular the late-night live radio shows featuring the famous Big Bands, this show is guaranteed to remain smoother longer and stay good to the last drop.

The Olney Big Band’s two vocalists developed the old-timey scripts, replete with signs reading “Applause”, “Silence”, and the like. Even commercial messages, spoofing those of yesteryear are scattered throughout the program.

Please note: the sponsor’s products are the result of over-active imaginations and the Olney Big Band is not responsible for aches, pains, or conditions lasting more than four hours due to product use.

The Olney Big Band Radio Hour can be tailored for your function on request.
